TORO continues to search for street styles that matter, and with this gallery of pics we've entered the Montreal scene. The city is on display, thanks to photographer Dominic Gouin, and the buildings make for a perfect backdrop to these fresh styles. From head to toe – and never overlook your footwear, if you truly want style – these looks are complete and fine-tuned to each personality.
One tip to freshen up a stale look is to pop your collar. That's just an entry-level fashion tip, so to speak, but you might be surprised by the amount of edge it can add to a guy's style.
Even though we at TORO respect a man who's not too timid to wear bright colours, it's worth remembering from time to time that style isn't exactly the same as clothing. If you're not going to wear it with confidence, then put it back in the closet. These street-style pictures from New York fashion blogger Karl-Edwin Guerre show why confidence matters most, even if you're sticking to neutrals.
In Vancouver, Darryl Humphrey was taking full advantage of the party atmosphere at the Olympic Games, where he photographed real men with real style. Mayor Gregor Robertson and former figure skater Emanuel Sandhu (above) were on hand for the unveiling of Vancouver artist Pamela Masik's show "The Forgotten" at her new studio, nestled in behind the Olympic Village. Humphrey also captured the vibe at other events with these candid shots.
Stylebook contributor Katja Hentschel reports from Germany, where the arrival of Berlin Fashion Week brought the party scene to a boil. For reasons unknown to us, even actor Matt Dillon was there, as shown in this gallery of pictures, which starts off with some examples of classic denim styles for men.
Stylebook contributor Krist Papas checks in from Toronto, where he took these shots of real guys out on the streets. It's been a milder winter than usual across the country, particularly here in the city, and these looks reflect that.
Stylebook contributor Karl-Edwin Guerre knows a thing or two about fashion, so we weren't surprised that he'd been invited to The Brooklyn Circus's round table discussion on the future of fashion. The one the panel ofdesigners, photographers, bloggers, retailers and editors could agree on: "Anyone with style could care less about a fashion." Guerre took along his camera for the occasion where he snapped this collection.
Stylebook contributor Silvia Bergomi checks in from Milan with a collection of street style and runway style. Out in the snow, the gents are looking fine despite the cold weather. Back indoors, Bergomi got a backstage look at the latest autumn/winter collection from designer Les Hommes.
North Americans aren't alone when it comes to bearing chilly temperatures, at least not recently. A cold snap has swept Western Europe including Germany, where 27 centimetres of snow fell in the capital. TORO checked in with our Stylebook photographer in Berlin, Katja Hentschel, to catch up on the street styles amidst all the activity, for this collection of pictures taken before and after the snowfall.
Staying stylish in the dead of winter can be a challenge. Many men feel the pressure to sacrifice style for comfort, but there are ways to have it both ways, depending on your lifestyle.
